-About Us-

Kabenohana-Dan
was originally formed by Takeshi Mizunuma (playwright, director, actor) in 2004 and is based in Kyoto. Since 2004 we have produced three theatre works written and directed by Mizunuma, such as Kabenohana-Dan (2004), The Size of the Eggs (2006) and The Evil (2007). Our theatre pieces are created with the texts inspired by literary masterpieces. We create original works united with the visual appeal, story and self-exploration.

-Synopsis-
In a vast spud farm, a woman is growing from the ground. Nobody knows how long she has been growing there but she seems to be there for long time. One day a man turns up from far away. He finds the woman and starts talking to her. He confesses he has crossed the border and has committed a murder. She also used to be one of the people who crossed the border and took root there. People call her the evil and are afraid of her. Though the man is congenital impotence, he makes love to her . It causes a quarrel between her and another woman who bound her on the spud farm. Eventually she starts talking the history of an old warc Using the images of The Evil by Dostoevsky and The Tin Drum by Gunter Grass, the expectations to the nation and the sense of loss that people in the outlying regions feel are caught again as contemporary problems.
